Leave as an Accommodation (ADA)
-
Temporary leaves of absence for your own disability may be considered under the ADA if you are ineligible for other protected leaves.
Temporary leaves of absence can be considered under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) if an employee is ineligible, or has exhausted, other protected leaves.
Typically, the ADA is for workplace accommodations to help employees stay at work. At times, staff may experience a need for a temporary leave of absence due to their disability. If you are not eligible for, or have exhausted, protected leave options (such as OR PFML, FMLA, or OFLA), your request may be considered under the ADA.
